Estrella and Diego were married on a gorgeous summer day in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the Blue Door Venue. It was a pretty HOT day, July in New Mexico can do that to you, so they had a super short and sweet ceremony and provided fans for their guests. Roxanne from Livingston Bridal and Events even made sure industrial sized fans blew cool air on the guests as they waited for the ceremony to begin. But not even the shining summer sun could match Estrella’s beaming face as she walked down the aisle toward Diego.
Here’s more from Estrella!
What did you envision for your wedding being prior to planning?
I never really thought of this day! Didn’t think I would get married! But when we got engaged I definitely started looking and couldn’t decide!
What was your color palette and your style vision?
Navy blue and gold. Elegant and classy but still with a little bit of wood, outdoorsy look. I liked the outdoors, barn/wood style but also loved elegant lace and wine bottles! We put together the centerpieces and it looked amazing!
What unique elements or DIY details did you include?
My mother in law and I did all our center pieces. We went to an empty lot next to her house and took branches off of trees, hand painted all of them and added flowers and jewels. We also spray painted all the wine bottles that the branches were being held in.
Tell us about your wedding dress, why did you chose it?
The wedding dress I chose was mermaid style. It was actually the second dress I had picked. The first time I went dress shopping I felt I had to pick one there and then so I settled for one everyone liked but deep down I knew I didn’t! Finally, I told everyone and we went shopping again and I knew more of what I wanted since I had been looking around, plus I had lost some weight! I found the wedding dress I liked online but definitely wanted to try it on, when we got to David’s Bridal it had just came out, brand new, my size and no one had tried it on yet! It’s like it was made for me!
Let’s talk blooms. Describe your floral elements.
Never had I seen bouquets with navy and gold and my florist did an amazing job!
Describe the locations of the day (getting ready, ceremony, reception).
It was all in one place which was so great and helpful! We had it at the Blue Door Venue and we were able to get ready there, check up on the decorating, and just be there the whole time! We had the ceremony in the courtyard, went inside to have dinner and then back to the courtyard for the dance!
What was your favorite moment of the day?
I had a lot of favorite moments! Seeing all the people we love make it to our special day, how beautiful all the decorations looked, and the way all of my family looked! But what topped everything was seeing Diego when I was walking down the aisle. Just knowing after that moment we’d be spending the rest of our lives together made all the stressful things leading up to that moment worth it!
What was one of the most emotional parts of the day?
The most emotional part was seeing my dad for the first time! He cried the moment he saw me. Also seeing Diego crying when he had his dance with his mom!
What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?
Enjoy it all! It can be stressful but don’t forget it is also going to be the best day of your life! Do what you want, invite who you want, wear what you want, pick what you want! Of course what your fiancé wants as well lol! And also make sure you actually enjoy the day and take it in with your husband! It can get so busy that you forget why you’re doing it, for the love of you two!
