Snowy El Paso Wedding at Painted Dunes Golf Course

Today we are showing off Andrea and Emilio’s wedding! These two are self described foodies, cross fit junkies, and major spoilers of their dogs. They were married on one of the coldest spring days I have ever experienced in the desert. It even snowed! But the warmth of their smiles, smiling at each other, and the smiles of their bundled up friends and family made all the difference. They say rain on your wedding day is good luck—so I expect snow on your wedding day must mean you have hit the jack pot in finding each other.

Here’s all the details from Andrea!

What did you envision for your wedding prior to planning?

I had a lot of different ideas prior to planning but what I definitely knew I wanted was something outdoorsy that allowed us to incorporate the Franklin Mountains in El Paso somehow.

What was your color palette and your style vision?

Our color palette was a mauve palette that went from mauve to grey with silver and greenery accents.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

One thing that I guess we could consider unique was our lasso for the lasso ceremony. We asked our florist to make it out of greenery and we loved the way that it turned out. Wedding signs, thank you sweets, and our hanging greenery hoops were DIY, the ideas came from Pinterest.

Tell us about your wedding dress, why did you chose it?

My wedding dress was a very simple ivory strapless dress with beautiful lace details from White Lace Bridal Boutique. I tried on a little shy of a million dresses but when I put this one on it was just everything that I was looking for. My mother and I were at odds about me having straps or not and when I tried this one on she loved it with out straps so I knew it had to be the one.

Let’s talk blooms. Describe your floral elements.

I didn't really want a lot of flowers. I wanted to have a lot of greenery so our florist, Tomas from El Paso Floral, used Silver Dollar Eucalyptus, Seeded Eucalyptus, and for my bouquet he added a Spider Mum.

Describe the locations of the day (getting ready, ceremony, reception).

Emilio and I both got ready at our parents homes. Our amazing photographer ;) suggested we do our first look at the Museum of Archaeology and then our ceremony and reception were held at Painted Dunes Desert Golf Course. Both our first look and our ceremony/reception venue had the mountain landscape that we were hoping for. We even got lucky enough to have a little snow on the mountains.

What was your favorite moment of the day?

It's really hard to pick a favorite moment because the whole day was so special. The whole reception was probably our favorite part because we were surrounded by all the people that we love and we had a lot of fun celebrating with everyone.

What was one of the most emotional parts of the day?

The most emotional part for me was before everything while we were getting ready. Emilio had one of his friends bring us coffee and I had his friend take Emilio a gift that I had bought him. He immediately called me afterwards and I think it was the first time that I had heard his voice that day. I just felt overwhelmed with happiness and excitement and got pretty emotional. Emilio said that the most emotional part for him that day was the ceremony.

What is one piece of advice that you could give to brides-to-be?

One piece of advice that was given to me when we first started planning was "Don't worry if things go wrong or aren't perfect, at the end of the day it is still going to be the best day because you are marrying your best friend." That is something that I told myself a lot and it was true. Even though it was the coldest day in March it was the BEST day and we would relive it again and again if we could. So I would advise brides-to-be to think about that when they feel like things are not going as planned.
